Cellulite on the thighs is an annoying concern that I was experiencing for a long time since I was a teenager. And as we age it is becoming even more challenging to get rid of it as the skin loses its elasticity.

Cellulite is a harmless lumpy and dimpled skin condition that especially arises on the thighs, hips, and buttocks (1.).

According to science the exact reason for cellulite is unknown, but there are some factors that might increase the chance of having cellulite (2.).

Obviously genetic, hormonal and aging factors can be very difficult to beat.

However, there are 5 COMMON LIFESTYLE MISTAKES that you should be aware of if you want to get rid of cellulite.

1.HARMFUL ADDICTIONS

SMOKING, DRINKING AND TOO MUCH SUGAR!

These are the three common addictions of the society that are – among other and harmful health conditions – causing cellulite as well.

Let’s look into the facts to see how these three addictions could potentially lead to having cellulite.

The next paragraph will break down in detail why and how DEHYDRATION causes cellulite.

2. DEHYDRATION

Dehydration and increased levels of cellulite on the thighs and hips often come hand in hand. The scientific reason behind this is that the lack of water in your cells is responsible for the increased level of cellulite’s dimpled look.

So make sure that you stay hydrated. According to scientific recommendations a healthy female should drink around 2.7 liters of water every day. According to the Mayo Clinic about 15.5 cups of water for men and 11.5 cups of water for women are adequate daily intakes.

However, it is also important to emphasize that your daily consumed amount of water highly depends on your size, activity level, and the weather where you live. (4.).

BUT DON’T WORRY! Consuming the often mentioned 8 GLASSES OF WATER A DAY could take you far with your cellulite reduction goals.

3.POOR FOOD CHOICES

The third very common cellulite mistake is having poor eating habits.

In this paragraph, I am going to highlight the three most important bad food choices that are causing cellulite.

Even though that hamburger with french fries – on the picture – might seem appealing to you, if you are aware of the harm it is causing it won’t be as appealing.

The 3 poor food choices you should stop making in order to beat cellulite are the following:

  • fast food includes a lot of sugar and processed ingredients that increase the level of toxins and fat in your body
  • excessive amounts of refined carbs could be responsible for cellulite on the thighs since it causes inflammation that could expand your fat cells.
  • avoid eating salty food because salt includes a high amount of sodium that is making the skin look even more dimpled.

4. SEDENTARY LIFESTYLE

A sedentary lifestyle refers to engaging in little to no physical activity. There are a number of lifestyle routines that can result in a sedentary lifestyle. Let’s mention the most important ones:

  • not exercising
  • sitting or lying down while completing an activity such as watching tv, studying, or working
  • sitting in vehicles while traveling and not walking

For example, if you have office work that requires sitting in front of a computer that could add a lot to a sedentary lifestyle.

According to scientific studies, long periods of sitting and lack of physical activity can play a big role in cellulite due to the reduced blood flow (5.)

If you are working in front of a computer make sure that you

5. Yo-Yo Dieting

Just like with other body-related concerns, such as weight loss it is important to establish a long-term healthy lifestyle instead of focusing on diets.

As you might already know yo-yo dieting involves the vicious cycle of gaining and losing weight.

This trap could lead to weakened skin and connective tissues that develop cellulite in the long run.

Yo-yo dieting was one of my worst habits from the past and it did damage my skin quite a bit. Luckily, for a few years, I have been focusing on maintaining a healthy lifestyle without any special diets and that really helped me get rid of cellulite.

So these are my five concerns regarding how to fight cellulite, I hope it was helpful and good luck on this journey if you are about to get started!
